How to Live a Simple Life

Over the past several years, I have been learning how to live a simple life. Living simple to me means letting go of things to give you a better quality of life. I have never been happier in my career, relationships, and life. I have been trying to enjoy the present moment and pursuing interests that I am passionate about. Life is too short to be unhappy.

The Keys to Live a Simple Life

One key is to try and start letting go. One of the most stressful moments in people’s lives is taking on too much. Sometimes it is okay to say NO. You need to think about yourself from time to time. You should not feel like you have to fill your time with day-to-day distractions. Take some time to just sit in a quiet place and clear your mind. Slow down and enjoy the moment. If some task takes a little longer than usual, so what.

Say No to The Distractions

  • Turn off the TV
  • Put down that phone
  • Ditch the computer
  • Stop thinking so much.

Stress can play a large part in our daily lives. We all know what stress can do to our body’s health. If we could just take a step back and simplify our lives, I believe that many of us could relieve many daily stressors.

Say Yes to Yourself

Taking some time for yourself is a great way to live a simpler life. Be mindful of the choices you make in your daily life. Be sure to take time to do things that are important to you. Spend more time with the people you love that make you happy.

Less is More

Sometimes less is more. I have learned to live with less. I often look back on when life was a lot simpler, back in the days when people used to grow and forage for their own food. I harken back to the Native Americans and how they lived off and respected the land. They seemed to be in such harmony with nature and life until the white settlers changed their way of life. I think we can learn a lot from their culture and philosophy of life.

Living Moment to Moment

I challenge you who read this to try and start your day fresh. Live life moment to moment. When you feel like your being pulled in too many directions, try to stop, breathe and bring yourself back to the present moment. We can’t live in the past or the future, just the present. You can always plan for tomorrow, but start living for today. With the holidays approaching, take time to appreciate what you have. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Put yourself in a position to make your life better. Life is too short to be miserable!

About Financial Forager
I enjoy canning, preserving, foraging and growing my own food. It’s become a way of life. When you grow a vegetable garden, you eat with the seasons. Foraging is the same way. I forage for many types of wild berries and edible plants. Preserving is a great way to store and maintain your garden and foraged finds.
